Vehicle window tinting means fitting film to the inside of a car’s glass to cut heat and glare and keep the back seats out of view. We fit ceramic and multilayer film at our workshop in Lingfield, cut to the pattern of each window, with the front glass kept inside the UK legal limits.

In detail
Precision-cut film fitted to the glass, not trimmed on it. Cuts heat and glare, keeps interiors from bleaching, and finishes the look of a wrap. Front side windows are kept inside the legal light-transmission limit, and the windscreen takes a sunstrip at most.
Ceramic and multilayer film, never dyed
Dyed film fades purple, bubbles and peels, so we do not fit it. The films we use are ceramic and multilayer, carry manufacturer warranties against that kind of failure, and come in shades from near-clear to near-black.
Heat, glare and UV
Heat rejection belongs to the film, not its darkness. Ceramic and multilayer films turn back infrared, so a fairly light shade can keep a parked car cooler than a much darker dyed film. Glare falls as the shade gets darker, and UV is blocked at close to 99% at every shade, which slows the fading of seats and trim. Choosing a shade, and the legal limits
Shades are named by VLT, the percentage of visible light the film lets through: the lower the number, the darker the glass. Behind the driver the choice is yours, and matching the rear doors to factory privacy glass keeps the side of the car one shade. By law the windscreen must let through at least 75% of the light and the front side windows at least 70%; the rear glass has no limit.

How a tint job runs
Each window is metered before any film goes on. The film is computer-cut to the pattern of your glass, fitted from inside the car, and the fronts are metered again afterwards, with the readings on your paperwork. Faint moisture blotches can show for a few days while it dries, longer in cold or damp weather, and clear on their own.

Common questions
Can the front side windows be tinted?
Yes, with a film light enough that glass and film together still pass at least 70% of the light. Factory glass is not fully clear, so on some cars there is no room for any film at the front, and we say so.
Do you tint windscreens?
Not with a shade film: the windscreen must pass at least 75% of the light, and a visible tint cannot stay inside that. Sunstrips across the top of the screen are a separate job, and one we fit.
